Keep Christmas Safe

Sponsored by:

It may be the most wonderful time of the year, but officials warn it can be dangerous as well.

Police officials across the nation are urging motorists to take it easy during the holidays and eliminate preventable tragedies.

Law enforcement officials note the majority of highway fatalities are alcohol-related – so they´re urging drivers to be safe and sober this holiday season.

At home, medical experts warn this is a peak period for fires.

Claudia McCormick, director of the trauma program at Duke Medical Center, in Durham, North Carolina, offers some advice – such as keeping the Christmas tree watered and making certain all candles are extinguished. She also warns some holiday plants have toxins that can make children sick – such as holly and poinsettias.
