Shooting Suspect Arrested In Sonora

The man wanted for questioning in the December 1 shooting death of 21-year-old Jennifer Lynn Coons has been arrested.

Tuolumne County Sheriff deputies and members of the California State Department of Corrections Special Services Unit arrested 30 year-old Kristopher Lee McDaniel at 9:30 p.m. last night at a Sonora home.

Authorities found him hiding in a bedroom closet. He was taken into custody without incident.

Coons died December 1st at Tuolumne General Hospital from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Also arrested at the house last night was Carol Leigh Jamison of Twain Harte and Sonora resident Angela Valentine. They are both charged for concealing a felon and are both being held on $10,000 bail. It was Valentine’s house where the suspect was found last night.

McDaniel is being held in the Tuolumne County jail on a no bail state parole hold.
