Killed Snowboarder´s Name Released

The name of the snowboarder killed by an avalanche has been released. The Washoe County Sheriff´s Department says the body of 26-year-old Scott Sappenfield of Reno was found about 7 p.m. last evening by a search dog. His name was released today.
Mount Rose ski resort spokesman Murray Blaney says the avalanche was triggered after three men entered an out-of-bounds area known as the Chute just to the east of the resort. Two of the snowboarders made it back the lodge to report their friend was missing. They´re identified as 22-year-old Douglas Howey and 20-year-old Marshall Smith, both of Reno.
