Fire Investigation Goes On

Investigators will continue to sift through the debris at the Twain Harte Inn again this morning. A huge fire Tuesday night destroyed the main building of the landmark Inn. So far, no cause has been determined.

The wooden, 2-story 15,000-square-foot main wing of the motel in downtown Twain Harte was fully involved when firefighters first arrived just before 10 o´clock.

The building contained a restaurant dining room and kitchen, bar and lounge and two rental apartments on the lower floor.

Most of the 24 motel room wings of the Inn were spared, two rooms closest to the main building seriously damaged by fire.

County Fire Marshall Kary Hubbard praised the efforts of the fire personnel for keeping the blaze confined to the main building.

Only one person was injured fighting the blaze, a firefighter treated for embers in his eyes.
