Sonora Toy Run Rumbles Into Sonora
Born to be kind… As many as 500 motorcycle enthusiasts with heart will roar into town tomorrow for the 16th annual Sonora Toy Run. The toy and food collection effort by bikers benefits local children and families. Sixteen years ago, Danny and Cheryl Ortega thought getting a few of their fellow motorcycle freinds together to ride and donate food and toys for the holiday would be a fun thing to do.
Cheryl anticipates a good group of bikers from all around the state tomorrow for the 16th annual Sonora Toy Run.
“Considering that the weather looks pretty nice, we´re hoping for a good 500 riders,” she said.
All motorcycle riders are welcome. To participate, bikers must bring a toy and at least one canned food item.
Sign-ups begin at Jamestown Harley Davidson at 10 a.m., and the line of bikes begin rumbling through downtown Sonora on the 13 mile run to the Moose Lodge in Mono Vista at noon. Toys collected Friday will be donated to the annual Christmas Eve Dinner at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds.
