A Very “Bright” Christmas Display

Sponsored by:

In Monte Sereno, Alan Aerts´ $150,000 holiday light show will go on. This week, the City Council in the tiny Santa Clara County community rejected calls for a law to regulate noise and traffic around holiday displays.

Aerts is a target because he puts up extravagant displays at Halloween and Christmas. His neighbors say they attract hundreds of gawkers to peaceful Danielle Place. Mayor Jack Lucas says most of the town´s 3,500 residents enjoy the decorations. He doesn´t think government should be regulating holiday decorations.

Aerts says he does it because he loves to spread holiday cheer. This Christmas, his display will include a snow machine, a live Nativity scene with sheep and lambs – and 100,0000 sparkling lights. Aerts promises to turn off the lights at 10 p.m. – and hire people to control traffic and clean up any messes.
