Oakdale Teacher Named Top In State

Anne Marie Bergen of Oakdale has been named one of four top teachers in the state. The state superintendent of public instruction, Delaine Eastin, named Bergen and four others today as the state´s teachers of the year.
Connie Blackburn of Escondido, Christopher Mullin of Santa Ynez, Tamara Thornell of Oxnard, and Virginia Avila of Sacramento are the other top teachers.
Avila was picked as California´s nominee for National Teacher of the Year. She is an English and physical education instructor at Sacramento´s Grant High School.
