Manteca police have issued an Amber Alert for a seven-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped last night by a handyman.

Police say John Henry Bocksmith told Ryan Michael Schmitt´s mother he was taking Ryan and another boy to dinner around 7 p.m.

Police say Bocksmith only took Ryan. When he didn´t return around 9 p.m., Ryan´s mother called police.

Ryan is about four-foot-six, 65 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a green flannel shirt and sweat pants.

Police are looking for Bocksmith´s brown 1997 Dodge Mini Caravan. Manteca Police Department crime analyst Linda Silva says Blocksmith worked as a handyman in the apartment complex where Ryan lived.

Blocksmith is white, five-foot-eleven and about 165 pounds with short brown hair, brown eyes and a light-colored mustache.
