Ski Areas Smiling With Snow Fall

The first snow of the year always makes the folks at Dodge Ridge happy, especially when the flakes fall closer to Election Day than Christmas Day.

Brad Wilson, the ski area’s director of marketing, says Dodge Ridge got three to five inches of snow overnight and Thursday morning.

“It´s looking like winter out there,” he said.

Wilson says Dodge Ridge could open all the ski and snowboard runs with three feet of snow, and some forecasts call for more than that this weekend. Whatever falls, they´ll take it.

“We´re ready to go at any time,” he said. “We’d love to be open by Thanksgiving or earlier, but it really depends on Mother Nature and if these storms come through.”

Wilson said long-range forecasts are for an El Nino year with lots of rain and snow.

“It´s definitely setting up to be a great ski season and snowboard season, and we´re just excited to snow on the ground this early.”
