Fire Destroys Tuolumne Road Home
Three people are homeless today after a modular house was totally destroyed by fire.
Fire Marshal Kary Hubbard says the blaze was first reported at around 8 p.m. last night.
The home on the 20000 block of North Tuolumne Road was fully involved when fire units arrived. Hubbard says exploding rounds of ammunition kept firefighters from battling the blaze for a time.
The three residents were renters.
Loss to the structure is estimated at $100,000 and loss to the contents at $15,000. Fire crews did save an 800-square-foot detached garage. Hubbard says the fire’s cause is under investigation.
An hour later in the lower Crystal Falls subdivision, $10,000 damage was done to a home on the 21000 block of Crystals Lake Drive when solvent-soaked rags spontaneously ignited on a deck. Hubbard says damage was held to the exterior of the home and the deck.
