Sponsored by:

No sign yet of any survivors in the crash of two fighter jets off the California coast.

A Coast Guard spokeswoman says a Coast Guard plane and a commercial fishing vessel are at the accident scene searching for four missing aviators. But she says there have been no signs of survivors or any sightings of bodies.

The Air National Guard also dispatched a helicopter from Moffett Field with two rescue swimmers aboard. A Navy spokeswoman says the pilots were members of the Black Aces, a new squadron at Lemoore Naval Air Station. The jets crashed at 9:40 a.m. about 80-miles southwest of Monterey. The aircraft were on a routine training mission.

Lemoore officials say none of the jets were carrying any weapons. The cause of the crash is under investigation. A spokesman for the Pentagon says he doesn´t know if the jets collided.
