Council Considers COPS Funding

The Sonora City Council Monday will hold a public hearing, looking for comments on the 2002 Community Oriented Policing Services or “COPS” allocation to the Sonora Police Department.
The city is considering taking $100,000 from the State´s COPS allocation and putting it in the police department budget for Front Line Policing Services.
The council will also look at approving a resolution giving the okay to hold the 19th annual Christmas Parade November 29th in Downtown Sonora, and consider approving a request from Sonora High School for a street closure October 18th for the annual homecoming parade.
