Hiker Missing At Yosemite

Sponsored by:

A 66-year-old Arizona man has been missing from Yosemite National Park for the past eleven days and rangers are asking for help finding him.

Walter Reinhard, of Oro, Arizona, apparently started a hike from the White Wolf area on September 20th. His car was found at the trailhead yesterday.

Park Ranger Debbie Schweizer says Reinhard checked into an area hotel room on September 19th and was apparently going for a day hike.

She says Reinhard was an avid hiker, but not a frequent Yosemite visitor. He was in California after returning from a hiking trip in Oregon. His family reported him missing on September 29th after he didn’t come home.

Search efforts are being hampered by today’s snowfall in the Yosemite area.

Rangers are asking park visitors to call if they’ve seen Reinhard since September 19th.
