Seven Bret Harte High School teenagers returning from a homecoming party in Copperopolis were injured early Saturday morning in a solo vehicle crash.
The CHP says 16-year-old driver Jenna Greenberg of Arnold lost control of her Subaru Station wagon on State Route 4 east of Poole Station Road and slammed sideways into a tree.
The Highway Patrol says only three of the seven were wearing seat belts and one occupant of the car was laying in the rear cargo areas of the wagon. The impact of the crash ejected two of the passengers and pinned Greenberg behind the wheel.
She was flown by helicopter to Doctors Hospital in Modesto for treatment. The others were taken by ambulance to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries.
CHP says Greenberg had a provisional drivers license for less than six months, prohibiting her from transporting passengers under the age of 20.
