Movie Railroad Days

Sponsored by:

The Golden Age of Hollywood films comes to life at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown this weekend.

Trains of the Sierra Railway have been featured in more than 200 feature-length motion pictures, television shows and commercials over the years.

Railtown 1897 will let the public get a behind the scenes look at the role the local trains played in the movies during their “Movie Railroad Days” event this weekend.

Action-packed filming reenactments of the “Petticoat Junction” TV series and the classic films “Go West” staring the Marx Brothers and “Unforgiven” starring Clint Eastwood will be featured Saturday and Sunday.

Celebrity look-alikes, cowboy yodeler Sourdough Slim, music, food and souvenirs will also be part of the weekend event.

Event hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, with special steam train rides and photo opportunities each day. Railtown is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Reservoir Road in Jamestown.
