Identity theft costs our country billion of dollars each year. Because of its rising threat locally, the Modesto Police Department will host a series of free community seminars in the up-coming months to educate the public on what identity theft is and how to minimize the risks.
First seminar is next Thursday, September 12 in Modesto, held at the Modesto Police Department, 600 10th Street. Other dates for the seminar include Sept. 24; October 10 and 24; November 7, 21; and December 12.
All seminars start at 6:30 and last about 2 hours.
