Fire Contained Near Old Wards Ferry

Fire crews have contained a vegetation fire along Old Wards Ferry Road above the river on the Sonora side.
The fire, reported at 1:25 p.m. this afternoon, is being held to a half in size near the bridge. A helicopter working the blaze burning in grass in that hilly area has been released. The fire was announced contained just before 2 p.m.
Fire units will be on the scene for a while, so use caution if driving in that area.
