On a tip from neighbors, a Copperopolis man is behind bars, charged with stealing more than $5,000 dollars worth of tools from a Tuolumne County construction company.
Calaveras County deputies say 29-year-old Tracy Cobb sold tools to his Feather Drive neighbors, saying they were from his deceased grandfather. Being suspicious, the neighbors alerted investigators who arrested Cobb.
Deputies say Cobb stole hand and power tools from work trucks owned by George Reed parked at their Tuolumne County yard. He also had an outstanding warrant from Tuolumne County. The stolen tools have been returned to the company.
