New Fires In Eastern Sierra

Sponsored by:

Firefighters are battling two lightning-caused fires in the eastern Sierra Nevada near U-S Highway 395. Two fires which merged after breaking out Friday cover 550 acres of sagebrush and pine forest near the communities of Walker and Coleville. The blaze was reported 20% contained this morning, with full containment expected Tuesday. A forest blaze that grew to almost 23,000 acres occurred in the same California-Nevada border area last month. A second fire of 250 acres 12 miles north of Bridgeport was reported only 5% contained today, with full containment expected Saturday.
