No ID Yet On Killed Trucker
The victim of yesterday morning´s fatal double big rig crash at Yosemite Junction west of Jamestown has yet to be identified.
A Tuolumne County Sheriffs spokeswoman this morning says it´s likely to be Friday before dental records help the coroner positively identified that Merced-area man.
Highway patrol spokesman Tom Wills says Pamela Short of Sonora was driving a semi-truck loaded with asphalt eastbound when it drifted into the westbound lane and slammed into the empty rig around 2:30 a.m.
The driver of that truck was killed instantly. Short suffered severe burns and is now at UC Davis Medical Center burn unit in critical condition.
That crash and clean-up closed the highway for almost 12 hours.
