Post Office Evacuated, Grenades Found

Sponsored by:

The evacuation of the Twentynine Palms Post Office and the block around it is over after three hours. A San Bernardino County sheriff´s sergeant says two live, but disabled, grenades were found. Sergeant Fred Gonzales says the package was mailed from the Midwest. While being handled this morning, the package fell apart and a hand grenade fell out. A military explosive ordnance disposal unit x-rayed the box in the parking lot and discovered a second grenade.

A sheriff´s arson bomb squad determined the bombs indeed were disabled and posted no immediate threat.
