Light rain and snow today, is expected to be followed by a stronger winter storm late tonight and tomorrow over Northern California. The National Weather Service says a major
storm filled with tropical moisture is expected to produce heavy rain and mountain snow beginning tonight in the coastal mountains, reaching the Sierra Nevada late tonight. Most of the rain and snow is expected to fall north of a line from Monterey to Modesto to
Yosemite National Park.
Rain of two or three inches is possible tonight and tomorrow over the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the Mount Shasta area. Some flooding is expected by tomorrow in small streams and low-lying urban areas.
There is a winter storm watch for tonight and tomorrow for the Northern mountains through the northern Sierra Nevada to near Yosemite National Park, above the seven-thousand-foot elevation.
