TV Ads Starting To Hit Voters

Sponsored by:

The general gubernatorial election is nine months away, but the television ad battle is well under way.

Governor Davis launched an attack ad today calling into question Republican hopeful Richard Riordan´s stance on abortion.

Riordan has said for years that he supports abortion rights. The ad shows a picture of Riordan and cites news reports that Riordan chaired a committee supporting the Supreme Court nomination of Robert Bork, who acknowledged opposing Roe v. Wade.

Riordan fired back immediately, airing an already prepared ad defending himself and accusing Davis of “typical politics.”

Davis has no significant opposition in March. But his aides say Davis simply is answering criticism being launched at him by Riordan and the other two candidates seeking the GOP nomination on March fifth.
