Newborn Found In Trash
A 16-year-old girl has been arrested for allegedly placing her newborn son in a plastic bag, then throwing him into a Monrovia trash bin to die.
Monrovia police say a tip last night led officers to the girl. She´s been booked for investigation of attempted murder and child endangerment. She was taken to a juvenile detention facility where she´s being held without bail.
Her name is being withheld because she is a minor. Police would only say that she lived with an aunt near the bin where the infant was dumped.
A man throwing out his garbage discovered the infant last Saturday. Doctors say the boy, whom nurses named Andrew, suffered three skull fractures.
The boy was released from Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena today and placed in the care of a foster family that plans to adopt him.
