Some CA Volunteers Sick After Working At Ground Zero
47 members of a Menlo Park-based rescue team who worked in the ruins of New York´s World Trade Center say they got sick after coming home. That´s 70 percent of the members of California Task Force Three.
The group includes firefighters, physicians, engineers and dog handlers who rushed into the devastation after the September 11th terror attacks.
Symptoms reported in a survey ranged from nagging coughs to bronchitis and pneumonia. Three members reported missing at least one workday because they were sick. The team was surveyed as part of a statewide effort to check the health of hundreds of volunteers.
