PG And E’s Lawsuit Moving Ahead

Sponsored by:

Pacific Gas and Electric Company´s lawsuit against the state Department of Water Resources will be allowed to go forward.

A Sacramento Superior Court judge made the tentative ruling today.

The DWR spent about ten billion dollars last year buying power for customers of the bankrupt PGandE and two other utilities. It´s arranged for more than 40 billion dollars in long-term power contracts over the next 20 years.

In August, PG and E asked the judge to order DWR to hold public hearings to justify its estimates of how large a portion of utility bills must be shared with it to pay the state´s debt and

costs.

The ruling allows the suit to go to a hearing. No court date has been set.
