Four Charged In Boy’s Death

Sponsored by:

A man and four women in Marin County have been charged in connection with the death of a 19-month-old boy. They also face multiple counts of neglecting 12 other children in the

household. Winifred Wright, Carol Louise Bremner, Mary Campbell and Deirdre Hart Wilson of Marinwood were arrested Friday after they were indicted by a Grand Jury. They were charged with second-degree murder and multiple counts of involuntarily manslaughter and child endangerment. Another woman, Kali Polk Matthews, also faces neglect and manslaughter charges.

Police say their investigation began when Wright and Campbell brought the child to a hospital in San Rafael in November where he was pronounced dead. It was later determined that the child died of malnutrition and neglect.

The 12 other children have been placed in emergency foster care.

DNA tests determined that Wright had fathered all 13 children with three of the women in the household. The five adults facing charges are expected to be arraigned in Marin County tomorrow.
