Gloves Come Off For Final Debate
A lively third and final debate among the top three Republican gubernatorial candidates. Front-runner Richard Riordan spent much of last night´s face-off in Long Beach fending off charges about his and his wife´s contributions to Democrats, his allegiance to the Republican Party and his relationship with Enron.
Secretary of State Bill Jones led the attack on Riordan, calling him “just another big-city liberal mayor´´. Bill Simon tried to separate himself from the pack, calling his opponents “both good men´´ with “very different visions.´´
