Dorothy Francis, Educator, Coach Dies At 82

Dorothy, “Dottie” Francis, former Superintendent and Principal at Soulsbyvile and Columbia Elementary schools died Friday at Tuolumne General Hospital. She was 82.
She was a 55 year resident of Sonora, and was the first female coach in Tuolumne County. She helped establish the Columbia Jr. College sports program.
She leaves two sons, Roger and Rick Francis of Sonora, a Daughter, Lynne Paper of Stockton, 7 grand children and 5 great-grand children. Services will be Thursday at 10 in Soulsbyville Methodist Church. A memorial scholarship will be established at Sonora High School in her name.
