An officer at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station has been charged with embezzling more than $400,000.00 by government credit cards. Prosecutors say Major Darryl Phillips enticed other Marines and civilians to file phony receipts for government purchases made through fake companies he had established.
The 39-year-old has been charged with violating six articles of military justice and is facing a July court-martial. He has been held in the brig at Miramar since January 18th.
