Possible Drowning On River
A rescue is going on this afternoon in a remote section of Tuolumne County. Sheriffs deputies and Search and Rescue units are trying to get to one, or possibly two kayakers in trouble about two-miles above the confluence of the Tuolumne and Clavey rivers in a rugged area of the county.
There are still very few details at this time, but Sheriff´s Lt. John Steely says at least one of the kayakers is a possible drowning victim. He didn´t have any indication of who the kayakers are, or where they are from.
The U.S. Forest Service received a request from the sheriff´s department for Medi-Flight helicopter about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. Steely says the bad weather has been hampering rescue efforts.
