Fire Burns Out Of Control In So. Cal

Sponsored by:

A forest fire swept over 1,500-acres Friday afternoon between San Bernardino and Lake Arrowhead, in the San Bernardino National Forest. The blaze has destroyed portions of the Arrowhead Springs hotel.

The fire was first reported about 11:45 a.m. just north of San Bernardino, in the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains. The fire was burning northward toward the community of Crestline, but authorities say no evacuations have been ordered.

About 600 firefighters from Riverside and San Bernardino counties and the California Department of Forestry were involved along with several air tankers and helicopters and there is no estimate on containment.

A training burn was being conducted in the area, but investigators have not determined if that was the cause of the fire.
