Toll Hike Talks

A proposed one dollar hike in tolls at six Bay Area bridges could raise $125-million a year for public transportation projects. The proposed increase would have to be approved by the Legislature in 2003 and by area voters in 2004. Tolls last rose in 1998, to two dollars – a hike that outraged many commuters.
