Firefighters declared full control just before 9:00 this morning on a wildfire that burned in the Tuolumne River Canyon yesterday. The fire, along Old Buchanan Mine Road and Fish Hatchery Road to the south east of Ponderosa Hills subdivision, was held to about 2-and-a-half acres according to U.S. Forest Service spokesman Pat Kaunert.

Fire units were dispatched to the blaze, located two miles from Ponderosa Hills, around 3:20 p.m. Crews from Tuolumne County and the CDF assisted Forest Service firefighters, along with two helicopters, two hand crews, a water tender, a bulldozer, and up to eight fire engines. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
