A Stanislaus County Honor Farm inmate picked the wrong time and the wrong place to make his break for freedom yesterday. Officials say 19 year old Alberto Carlos Ramirez had just made his way through an orchard near the facility, when he crossed the road directly in front of the Facility Commander as she was on her way to work.
Lieutenant Janet Rasmussen says Ramirez grabbed a parked pickup truck trying to evade her, but she pulled her sidearm and held him at bay. Rasmussen had summoned backup officers before taking off in pursuit of Ramirez. He´s now been re-booked on auto theft and escape charges.
