Lake Tahoe Speed Boat Shuttle Proposed

A San Francisco company hopes to be able to offer the first speedboat shuttle service on Lake Tahoe.
The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Wednesday will consider a permit for a pilot project proposed by Hornblower Cruises.
Passengers would ride on the Meteor, a 420-horsepower, 62-foot speedboat named after a historic Lake Tahoe steamer.
Initially, the company plans to ferry passengers between its home port in South Lake Tahoe and Tahoma on the west shore. The permit under consideration would allow for future stops at Tahoe City, Sand Harbor and the Thunderbird Lodge.
