Buses Will Run For Tonight’s Big Game
With 10,000 fans converging on Sonora High School´s Dunlavy Field tonight for the Annual Show down between the Wildcats and the Oakdale Mustangs, school principal Terry Clark says parking around the campus will be at a premium.
To handle the crowds school officials are encouraging fans to park at the Wall Mart-Mervyn´s shopping center parking lots off Sangunetti Road and take school shuttle buses to and from the game tonight.
The district will operate three large Sonora Union High School District school buses to and from the parking lot area with the pick-up on the road between Mervyn´s and Wal-Mart.First run to the shopping center will be at 5:30 this evening. “We will shuttle people as long as there is somebody there,” Clark said. “So, if the last bus is atquarter to 7 and there´s still 50 people waiting, they will make one more run so we won´t leave anybody stranded.”
Buses will return fans to the parking lot after the game as well, Clark explained. “It will take so time to get out of here, but, we will take people back as long as they need a ride back.”
To accommodate extra crowds at the stadium, addition seating is being brought in from the Mother Lode Fairgrounds and other campus athletic fields. They will be in place on the track along the east, or visitor´s, side of Dunlavy Field.
Clark also reminds fans who may be arriving early and having tailgate parties, or bringing food into the stadium, that alcohol is not allowed anywhere on school property,
Gates open at 3:30 this afternoon.
