A hearing in the Laci Peterson murder case resumes today, with the defense cross-examining a police witness who testified last week.
The proceedings in Modesto, California are expected to be brief because defense lawyer Mark Geragos has to return to Los Angeles for another trial.
Yesterday, a defense expert testified that the type of DNA testing done on a hair found in Scott Peterson´s boat is unreliable. Biology professor William Shields says he was “appalled” by the size of the sample the FBI used for testing.
Prosecutors believe the hair found in pliers on the boat could be from Laci Peterson. Scott Peterson is charged with killing his wife and their unborn child.
