Huge Fires Near Containment

Fire officials expect to fully contain tonight fires that have burned more than 30,000 acres in Santa Clara, Alameda and Stanislaus counties. The fires are now about 95 percent contained one week after they were sparked by lightning storms. Firefighters are now mopping up, patrolling fire lines and dropping water on hot spots. About $10 million have been spent to contain the fires.
