An animal-rights group says it plans to drop its lawsuit today against KFC Corporation. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals claims more than 700 million chickens slaughtered each year for KFC restaurants “endure suffering, often intense.”
The group had sued, claiming KFC and its parent company are misleading the public by denying the abuse.
A PETA spokesman says KFC and its parent company agreed to change statements on a web site and in customer-service telephone operations. But, an official at the parent company had said he was unaware of such a planned action.
