The Final Count Is In
The ballot in the October recall election will list a staggering 135 names. It could be a national record. Secretary of State Kevin Shelley certified the ballot this evening. He also released a sample to show what the ballot will look like in the first Assembly district.
Though it´s long, the ballot could have been longer. Elections officials disqualified 112 of 247 would-be governors because of incomplete paperwork. University of California, Berkeley, political science professor Bruce Cain says no other gubernatorial ballot in California has come close to having the number of candidates this one will have. He says the largest ballot before this probably listed fewer than a dozen candidates.
