County, Kingsview Reach Settlement
Tuolumne County Supervisors Tuesday approved a one million dollar settlement with Kings View mental health for past services to the county. The money will be paid out over five years. Supervisor Dick Pland says it´s a fair deal.
“This is not a gift of public funds in any stretch of the imagination,” he said. “These were services that were provided to the citizens of Tuolumne County.”
The shortfall in payments comes from differences in Medi-Cal reimbursements. Kings View says the county owed the company two-point-four million. The county claimed they owed nothing. Pland says not everyone may like the settlement they arrived at Tuesday, but he said, “It´s a lot better than it could have been.”
Officials say a new five-year contract is being hammered out, so that this kind of confusion doesn´t happen again.
