Search Continues For Missing Man

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne county authorities have told us this morning that the man´s body found near Highway 108 and Draper Mine Road yesterday is not that of an elderly Modesto man.

Modesto police say 64-year-old Andrew Longenbaugh was last seen late Monday night and had just been released from a medical facility Sunday for treatment of depression. But again, police say the body found here in Tuolumne county is not Logenbaugh.

Police are asking for help in finding the missing Modesto man. If you have information, contact the Modesto Police or the Tuolumne County Sheriff.

Modesto Detective Sgt. Al Carter said it was possible that Longenbaugh got a ride from someone and was no longer in Tuolumne County. He said Longenbaugh might even be back in the Modesto area.

Longenbaugh´s wife, Cheryl Ann Longenbaugh, 56, was killed June 18, 2001, when she was struck by a pickup as she walked across I Street at 10th Street in Modesto, on her way to work at the Stanislaus County government center.

Andrew Longenbaugh is retired from the county Probation Department.
