There´s plenty to do and see in the Mother Lode during this long Independence Day weekend.

A lazer show will light up the 4th of July night sky above Sonora Friday. Christian Heights Church in Sonora is offering a full-slate of Independence Day activities, including food, music, carnival rides and games during the day beginning at 10 a.m. and the free professional lazer-light show that night. All this takes place on their athletic field on Joshua Way in Lambert Lake area of Sonora. The lazer show begins at 9 p.m.

The annual Country Mountain Rider 4th of July BBQ will be held at Wayside Park in Groveland Friday from 5 to 10 p.m.

The Don Pedro Recreation Agency will present their annual Fireworks on the Water show Friday beginning at 9:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per vehicle.

Columbia State Historic Park will host a long list of holiday activities Friday starting with a flag raising and cannon firing at 10 a.m., then a parade, games, music all day and a barbecue that starts at 4 p.m.

Ironstone Vineyards will hold it´s first ever fireworks display Friday with live music beginning at 6 p.m. at the winery in Murphys.

The Calaveras Community Band will play a concert of old summertime favorites Friday at the Glory Hole Campground beginning at 7 p.m.

The Arnold Independence Day Parade will take place Saturday, July 5th, along Highway 4 starting at 10 a.m.

The Coulterville Fire Brigade will hold their annual deep pit BBQ dinner Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at Coulterville Park.

The Tuolumne City Memorial Museum hosts its annual Ice Cream Social Saturday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

And Sunday, July 6, Chapel In the Pines of Arnold has their Independence Day Extravaganza planned from 6 to 9:30 p.m. with lasagna dinners, live music, games and fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.

It will be an old-fashioned Fourth at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown Friday. Steam train rides, food, games and live music highlight the holiday event. The Fire Cracker Express evening passenger train trip will run from Jamestown to Chinese Station and back. A special barbecue train is also scheduled for Saturday evening as well.
