Brisk temperatures didn´t stop huge crowds from welcoming in the new year in Reno and at Lake Tahoe. But the merrymakers didn´t stay around long.
At Tahoe, U.S. 50 was closed for the second time yesterday.The highway linking Northern California and northern Nevada was shut down earlier in the day by a blizzard. By nightfall, the skies had cleared and an estimated 40,000 – to – 50,000 people braved ice, snowdrifts and temperatures in the single digits to throng in the casino core.
