Women Trapped In Rollover Crash

Two Mother Lode residents were trapped upside down in their overturned vehicle early New Year´s morning on Cherokee Road.
The highway patrol reports 48-year-old driver Jeanne Thurston of the Tuolumne Rancheria and 61-year-old passenger Frederica Varlese of Sonora had left a bar on Tuolumne Road after 1 a.m. and were headed home. Officers report due to her intoxicated condition, Thurston lost control of her Dodge pick-up, struck an embankment and rolled. Firefighters extricated the two women. The CHP says Thurston was treated at Tuolumne General Hospital then arrested for DUI.
