Fatal Truck Crash Closes Modesto Off-Ramp

A Turlock truck driver was killed last night in Modesto after his big rig slammed into a tree and burst into flames.
The CHP says 45-year-old Roberto Fierro allowed his truck to drift off the roadway at the Southbound Pelandale Avenue off-ramp to Highway 99 around 4:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon. Fierro died in the fire resulting from the wreck.
That off-ramp was closed for more than 5 hours because of the accident.
