Bush Addresses Christian Broadcasters
President Bush says Christian broadcasters should encourage urban and suburban churches to team up in addressing social problems. Bush told the National Religious Broadcasters convention in Nashville that their radio and television programs reach both audiences – and he noted that affluent churches are often just blocks away from poor churches and neighborhoods that need their help. The president said several such partnerships already are helping the needy and overcoming the racial barriers that separate believers. Comparing social problems to a cracked wall, Bush suggested that government programs often just paint over the problem while religious ones fix the foundation.
