Tuolumne County Waives Loan Ceiling For TGH

Sponsored by:

In light of continued financial troubles at Tuolumne General Hospital, County Supervisors have waived the county´s loan ceiling of $5.5 million.

Supervisor Mark Thornton cast the only vote against the proposal. He wants the county auditor to have to appear before the Board of Supervisors each month that the hospital is over the limit. Right now, TGH owes more than $6 million.

Meanwhile, Hospital Administrator Barry Woerman says he´s presenting an updated financial recovery plan next week. Woerman has been working on the plan since he first took his current position about a year ago.

In addition to borrowing over $6 million from the county, Tuolumne General has also used about $11 million from the county´s general fund over the past six years.
