Open House at Yosemite National Park

Sponsored by:

Yosemite National Park held an open house in Yosemite Valley yesterday afternoon.

The gathering at the East Auditorium, behind the Valley Visitor Center was to allow the public to get a glimpse of numerous improvement projects, some of which include the Lower Yosemite Falls Project, Yosemite Lodge Area Redevelopment, Curry Village and East Valley Campgrounds Improvements, East Yosemite Valley Ecological Restoration, and the Alternative Fuel Yosemite Valley Shuttle Bus Procurement.

These projects will implement actions called for in the Yosemite Valley Plan, continue the work necessary to recover from the 1997 flood, or complete planning efforts associated with ongoing park operations.

Other Yosemite National Park open houses are planned in the month to come.

For those projects soliciting public comments, written comments can be submitted at the open houses. Comments may also be sent to the park via fax (209/379-1294), email (yose_planning@nps.gov), or standard mail (Yosemite National Park Superintendent, PO Box 577, Yosemite, CA 95389). To see a summary of current projects and their status as well as access related planning documents on the web, go to {url:www.nps.gov/yose/planning}nps.gov/yose/planning{/url}.
